Freelance senior dev,
in Utrecht.

I'm Hugo Platret. French, in Utrecht since 2024. I build backends in PHP and Python, ship AI features into production, and rescue legacy stacks. Available for in-person work in Utrecht and remote across the EU.

Easy on-site availability for Utrecht clients. Happy to do on-site sessions for kickoffs, sprint planning, or stuck-team debugging. Otherwise async-first and remote.

Utrecht has a small but serious tech scene — Rentman, where I worked from 2024 to 2025, is here. It sits 30 minutes by train from the Amsterdam tech cluster and the heavier Randstad market.

I work in English by default. Technical discussions, code review, and documentation all run in English. Happy to work with your Dutch-language contract templates.

EU timezone, GDPR-aware, standard Dutch freelance setup. Hourly or fixed-scope, depending on what fits your project. Send me a brief and I'll send back the full paperwork pack.

Can you come on-site in Utrecht?

Yes. I'll be at your desk for kickoffs, architecture sessions, retros, or anytime a team feels stuck. I prefer to do the actual coding async, but I show up for the conversations that need a whiteboard.

Do I need to speak Dutch to work with you?

No. English is my working language. Technical discussions, code review, and documentation all run in English. Dutch-language contracts are fine, I'll work with your template.

How quickly can you start?

Depends on the month — sometimes two weeks, sometimes immediately. The fastest signal is to send a short brief to hugo.platret@gmail.com and I'll tell you where I am in the queue.

What kind of projects are you the wrong fit for?

Pure frontend roles (React/Vue/Angular as the main job). Marketing-site builds that need a designer more than a dev. Anything in mobile native (iOS/Android) outside of Flutter. Greenfield JS-only stacks where my PHP and Python background doesn't compound.
